Easter Week Events 2011

Holy Week — the eight days between Palm/Passion Sunday and Easter Sunday — is the most significant week in the Christian calendar and PPC has several important dates on which you will want to be present and part of the church family.
 

SUNDAY.  APRIL 17 — PALM/PASSION SUNDAY
10 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Festival worship begins with the Procession of Palms celebration, but by the end of worship, our eyes are turning to the upcoming events of Holy Week. Dr. Mark Smutny will preach. We will also receive the One Great Hour of Sharing offering during worship.

THURSDAY, APRIL 21 — MAUNDY THURSDAY
In Fellowship Hall
6:00 p.m. dinner
7:00 p.m. worship

A simple supper followed by a Taizé service commemorating the night of Jesus’ last supper with his disciples.  In Fellowship Hall

FRIDAY, APRIL 22 —  GOOD FRIDAY

ECUMENICAL SERVICE
First United Methodist Church, Pasadena
12:00 p.m.
This service, sponsored by the ecumenical Council of Pasadena, features music and preaching from area pastors and churches.

EIGHT STATIONS OF THE CROSS
6:00 p.m. in Freeman Chapel

GOOD FRIDAY CONCERT
7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Preconcert lecture at 7:00 p.m.

PPC’s 14th annual Good Friday Devotional Concert will feature The Kirk Choir, singers from the community, soloists and orchestra who will perform Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem. The Pasadena Singers will perform Frances Poulenc’s Quatre motets pour un temps de pénitence (Four Lenten Motets).    FREE ADMISSION — invite your friends.

SUNDAY, APRIL 24 — EASTER SUNDAY
10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Celebrate the holiest day in the church year in a festival worship service with glorious music and the celebration of Holy Communion. Dr. Mark Smutny will preach.
